The perils of bragging

On Friday I celebrated my 40th birthday. Craig took the day off and we planned to do something really fun together. We had plans for the kids and were really looking forward to a great weekend. On Tuesday, Megan and Adam both woke up with strep throat. Now I should preface this with the fact that just prior to the strep throat we had a bad case of the flu here. Just prior to the flu I made the unbelievably stupid error of bragging, (yes, outloud), to some friends about how healthy we have been. In hindsight I see the absolute idiocy of this but, still, I did it. Anyway, Thursday, Aaron woke up with a high fever. Friday, he again had a high fever. Not to be detered, Craig and I decided that we could still have a fun day. We took Aaron to the doctor together and then dragged the poor, sick child to look at furniture, (we needed a new couch for our front room). After lunch we came home, took a nap and then went to dinner and a movie. It wasn't a whole weekend but we had a good time!

During dinner I started to not feel so hot and by the time the movie was over I was bushed. On Saturday we went to a great meeting for church and then were to go to our friends Dave and Jeana's for games. Aaron was feverish, whiny and basically miserable and I was not feeling very well either and so we decided to stay home. I took two benadryl and went to bed early. I Sunday I woke with a raging case of, you guessed it, strep throat. Now I have not had strep in about 9 years and I do not recommend it. It stinks. Craig had gotten up early to make me breakfast in bed for my on going birthday, (delicious! eggs benedict, complete with hollandaise sauce!) and I was so sick I could barely eat. I did eat, of course, and it was so delicious!

Adam also woke up with a high fever and Aaron's fever continued. On Monday when Craig went to work Adam promptly threw up. It sucks to have strep throat and to be cleaning up someone else's throw up, (not that this point isn't obvious, but just in case you missed it). Anyway, today, Wednesday, I am finally felling well enough to sit ant the computer and tell you all about it. Aaron is still sick, Adam is back at school and now Tori is home with strep. She is miserable, throwing up, feverish and feeling terrible in every way. I am dying to leave the house and today was a birthday outing with my friends for lunch that we will have to do next week.

The upside of this bout of sickness has been Craig. He has risen to the occasion. He has been waiter, cook, maid, tutor, and everything else we have needed. He offered to stay home from work with us but I don't want to waste his vacation on this! Another upside is that the very kind doctor called me in a prescription instead of making me sit in urgent care on Sunday. My friends called me and brought me candy and I had a really nice day with Craig on Friday.

I am sure that we will get better soon and I have learned my lesson about bragging!!

And by the way, I am still going to put up some pictures but I figured that you wouldn't want to see pictures of this. Trust me on this, I know!

Okay, you have 2 days to get better before we all come to town. I don't think we want strep. It's been a long time since I've had it too, but I remember how fun it is
